Who is WALSH?

Can all your Mobile Management Systems be installed on one handheld PDA?

Answer:  Yes. Our systems were developed in such a way that they not only are able to run on one hardware unit, but their combined value is actually greater. Using multiple applications reduces the learning curve and leads to even quicker qualitative and quantitative benefits.

What is the difference between the Walsh Waste Auditor and the Walsh Waste Tracker Program?

Answer:  The Walsh Waste Auditor allows a consultant to perform a detailed waste audit quickly and safely, providing a snapshot of the hospital’s waste management situation at that point in time.

The Walsh Waste Tracker Program is a turnkey package of technology and services that allow the hospital to reduce costs and improve safety and regulatory compliance on a day-to-day basis.  The Waste Auditor is the ideal entry step to the long-term solution provided by Walsh Waste Tracker.

How does the Walsh Waste Tracker Program reduce hospital spending?

Answer:  Cost Reduction is based upon three principles:

1. A significant proportion of biomedical waste is actually regular garbage.

2. Eliminating the regular garbage from the biomedical waste stream will reduce costs, labor, and handling risks.

3. Effective, long term reductions can only be achieved by sensitizing users to problems, monitoring the waste stream, and following up regularly with waste producers who are not conforming.

We handle our waste differently than others. Will the Walsh Waste Tracker Program still work?

Answer: Yes. Because every hospital is different, Walsh Waste Tracker Program can be modified to meet varying needs and requirements.

Before installation, WALSH carries out a detailed evaluation of your needs along with you. Walsh Waste Tracker is then setup to meet those needs.

We use "Universal Precaution". Can we still use Walsh Waste Tracker?

Answer:  Absolutely. As a matter of fact, Walsh Waste Tracker will increase the efficacy of your entire system.

A system of Universal Precaution does not preclude the possibility of stick wounds, leaking boxes, or other problems. Walsh Waste Tracker will work to identify those users who are not following guidelines, and will help you to get them in line.

In addition, you will be able to see what Universal Precaution is actually costing you, on a department-by-department basis. When you see one department whose costs are out of line, you may then take corrective action such as additional training, or increased signage.

Walsh Waste Tracker helps you get the most out of Universal Precaution.

How much effort will be required to run the Waste Tracker consulting service?

Answer:  Some effort will be required.

We adapt the Walsh Waste Tracker Program to meet your operations. We do not change the way you operate to accommodate Walsh Waste Tracker.

In addition, your worker or manager who will use the system will be trained on how to get the most out of the software. The Walsh Waste Tracker Software is Internet based, and is specifically designed for people who are not computer experts.

Friendly and helpful telephone support is always available, as are additional training sessions. Walsh Waste Tracker is powerful yet easy to use!

Are there other modules included in your Waste Management program?

Answer:  Walsh Waste Tracker does more than just manage your biomedical waste. The following modules are also available:

RECYCLING MODULE

Track and manage all your information concerning your recyclable stream:

  • Which areas in the hospital are producing what?
  • What steps should be taken to improve recycling?

WALSH WASTE AUDIT

This module allows you to quickly and safely audit a variety of waste streams, including RMW. You will produce a detailed Audit Report, suitable for presentation.

Couldn't we do this using a pen and paper? Why should we use Walsh Waste Tracker?

Answer:   Yes, but you would not succeed in the long run. The amount of effort required to do this manually would outweigh any benefits. To reduce biomedical waste in a hospital with numerous waste generators, requires continual attention and service. Because the Walsh Waste Tracker Technology is automated, your time commitment is minimal (a few minutes per week).

Effectively reducing expenses in the long term, with a controllable amount of work and at a low cost, requires a systematic and automated approach. Walsh Waste Tracker provides that approach.

Studies have shown that on average, up to 65% of the biomedical waste stream is not biomedical waste.

Proper segregation of waste, at the point of generation, reduces volumes and reduces costs.
